Anne’s fantastic wedding outfit

21st July 2022 by Fiona Mobbs Leave a Comment

It’s always lovely when clients are happy with the results – and so kind of them to share a testimonial for me!  Anne was struggling to find something she liked for her niece’s wedding and I was only too pleased to help.  She kindly recorded the short video – link below – to explain how we worked together and how pleased she is with her outfit.

“Hello, my name’s Anne and I’m wearing the outfit that Fiona has helped me choose for my niece’s wedding.

It’s taken a little bit of time to work out my style and colours but this is the outfit and I’m absolutely thrilled.
I heard about Fiona in an interview on Radio Solent back in the spring and I got in touch. We did a colour session, where we identified my colours, which was fantastic. Then I went off on my own to select some things.

After two or three really expensive things that I bought and sent back, I decided to take Fiona up on her offer of a specific styling session to help me find an outfit.  She came with twenty different outfits, all in my size and my colours, all of which I tried on.  All the colours were great and this was one of them.

Fiona took a photograph of me in each outfit, from the front and the back, which is great as you can’t remember how each one looked.

I am absolutely thrilled that I have now got an outfit that I feel really good in. My sisters approve, which matters because it’s a family wedding; my husband approves, which is even better, and I can’t recommend Fiona highly enough. She’s a really good investment – don’t miss out!”

Shopping Made Easy: My experience in July 2022, by MB

20th July 2022 by Fiona Mobbs Leave a Comment

I was recommended to Fiona by someone I trusted, and she wasn’t wrong. My expectations were high but Fiona didn’t disappoint. I experienced Fiona’s ‘At Home Shopping’ service and this is how it went. From the beginning Fiona listened to my input and that was important.

First contact

We had a Zoom call first, to establish if we were going to work together, what was required, how we would approach it and costs, so that I knew what to expect.

Preparation

Following that, Fiona came round (my request was to meet in person for a wardrobe review, rather than through Zoom) and spent a couple of hours discussing my wardrobe contents. I learned a bit about my “clothing personality” and why what I had suited me (such as styles of clothes, materials and patterns) and how things could be used differently (for example, using my shirts over other items as a less formal jacket). It was useful to get Fiona’s opinion on the colours in the wardrobe too, since I had been colour-analysed a few years ago but wasn’t quite sure if some of the clothes I already had were in the Summer palette or not. We had agreed some of my favourite pieces were on their final wears and needing replacements. Looking at what was going to stay and where the gaps were, we drew up the shopping list. I wanted to inject some more colour into my wardrobe so we discussed particular colours I would like (and not like) and how the purpose was to get some key workwear pieces, which was the reason for requesting Fiona’s help.

‘At Home Shopping’ (Part 1)

Two weeks later Fiona appeared again with so many bags it took two trips from the car! We had a lot to try on and discuss. It was a hot evening, but Fiona had prepared me for that, and even offered to bring a fan. I tried everything on, as Fiona had requested, and it was easy to eliminate a few things, decide to keep several things, and we had a couple of “maybe’s”. Working through the items some were liked but not exactly the right size, so Fiona offered to get the right size and have a look for some alternatives to some other pieces to meet the entire brief/shopping list and come back. (She explained that this was all part of the service and within the price already agreed.) She trusted me with the “maybe’s” so I didn’t feel under pressure to decide. Equally, though, I was trusting her to bring me what I wanted and needed, and it was going well.

By the way, some of the pieces were good prices for value (we had talked about budget), and I now had an expanded list of shops/brands to explore in future. Not only was Fiona considering colours, styles and fit, but also my values. We were on the same page when it came to eco, natural and ethical clothing. Although she did sneak in some materials that weren’t totally natural, she did convince me on the way in which they were produced. I was also keen to have clothing that felt soft as well as being comfortable and looking good, and Fiona explained how these “new” materials fitted those requirements.

‘At Home Shopping’ (Part 2)

A week later Fiona was back again with more clothes. Less to try on this time, but covering the brief fully now and all a great fit. Again, some more learning about different brands, colour combinations and future options for the coming autumn and winter season.

Summary

Fiona was keen to please, made me feel comfortable, and I was not under pressure to have anything. I ended up with some lovely new pieces that work together, that I never would have discovered on my own, and my wardrobe now sings to me. What joy. I can’t wait for the compliments I expect to get, and am much more of a confident shopper now, thanks to Fiona.

Fiona sends all the unwanted clothes back and I just pay her for those that I want (at the price she paid). She was also informing me of the prices as we went, in case that helped me to decide.

This was shopping made easy: a great investment, and to be recommended.

Shopping Support for Special Birthday

28th December 2019 by Fiona Mobbs Leave a Comment

My approaching 50th birthday party

I had a week to go before my 50th birthday party and still hadn’t found a dress to wear and was getting a bit worried, so I asked Bradbeers in Romsey if they had a clothing consultant to help me. They didn’t but gave me Fiona’s card. I phoned her up and agreed to meet her at Bradbeers. I am very busy with work and family so only had an hour to spare. I have had my “colours done” in the past but because our house is in the middle of a building project, the colour sample cards were packed away somewhere, but Fiona told me not to worry as she would know which colours would suit me. Fiona was totally amazing! – she scoured the shop and brought me lots of different items to try on as well as matching shoes, handbags and jewellery.

Result!

At the end of the hour, not only had I found a fantastic party dress, but also a daytime wrap around dress and a sparkly purple top to wear at a business drinks evening that week! I could never have achieved that by myself!

And there was more!

She also introduced me to an online shop that specialises in colourful under tops arranged in the personal colours, to make it easy to mix and match the perfect colours for me. Fiona also recommend a hairdresser who I went to for a good hair cut and colour. Fiona also came to my house on the morning of the party and did my make up for me, including false eyelashes! I had a great birthday party as a result! Thank you Fiona! I have already recommended you to my friends.

TURNING THINGS AROUND: GILL’S STORY OF 2018

26th September 2018 by webadmin Leave a Comment

Why I asked for Fiona’s help

“I first asked Fiona for help when I was invited to a VIP event back in May 2018. It was a particularly poignant time for me as my Mum was terminally ill, and she was very pleased to chat with me about this event well before it took place, as well as tell anyone who would listen about my very secret event!

So, imagine my despair when I looked in my wardrobe and found a navy and white dress which didn’t look great, and that was my best outfit! I had some other nice dresses but nothing that would stand out as amazing or special, so I sent Fiona a desperate email asking for her help.

What was agreed

Unfortunately I didn’t have much spare time, however I was able to get a half day holiday from work and so arranged to meet Fiona in Southampton at a department store. We only had one hour together and she whizzed around getting items that I would never normally have looked at!

Fiona had researched the internet of the store and so had prepped before that hour. She also sent me the list so I was aware of some of the outfits and ideas before we met up. Of course I’d looked online myself… but I’d not found much or the colours that Fiona had.

I did know my colours!

Many years ago I was advised of my colours, so I had this info to hand but over the years you forget about this, lose the confidence in what goes with what or what you can wear with what, and I needed reminding, desperately!

So, she gave to me loads to try on, and Fiona was looking, checking the styles – did they suit me and seeing what was my style, how it fitted, etc. Then she’d go back out and get something else – Fiona was amazing!

Results

That day I didn’t get my dress, however I did purchase a pair of bright blue trousers (which have earned me loads of compliments since) and a few other clothes (which if I’m honest would never have done so without Fiona’s help or advice).

That day I gained lots of confidence to wear bright colours all together, and what you can put with something else or what I wouldn’t normally put with something but looks good with it. And yes over the months I’ve purchased better coloured items (not always the right things but mainly good colours).

After our trip, I purchased a dress online which Fiona recommended to me on her email research and I teamed it with a bright cardigan and bright coloured short rain coat & I felt amazing!

Feeling bright and confident I visited my Mum in the afternoon who also said I looked lovely, particularly that colour blue on me. And she was telling all where I’d been and who I’d seen – Princess Royal at a Lymington Sailability boat naming ceremony. Sadly, my Mum passed away a few days later (I’d like to think she held on for my event, and seeing me all confident and looking lovely).

Since then I have worn the dress and bright cardigan again and again, and have received some lovely compliments.

And because it doesn’t suit me (anymore) I’ve not worn a black cardigan or a black or dark top at all!! All have been brighter colours, which has given me confidence too!

Further help

And I have gone from a summer time ‘spring’ wardrobe to a winter time ‘spring’ one too as I was feeling stuck, so I asked Fiona for help again.

And once again Fiona has been able to deliver results and help with suggestions and inspiration. Then with a visit to a store where I’m now feeling inspired again.

I have decided to get my inspired kick of colour pairing every 6 months with Fiona which I now know will instil confidence in me as well as lots of lovely compliments!

So if you’re feeling stuck, not sure if the colour is too dark, etc do give Fiona a call. She is very versatile as to what your requirements are. And don’t feel afraid of change.

I am very grateful to Fiona who I can recommend wholeheartedly to anyone who wants to feel good about themselves. Thank you Fiona.”

Here are the tops I’ve since donated to charity, and

My recent purchases!!!

Shopping With Fiona, September 2017

10th September 2017 by Fiona Mobbs Leave a Comment

“Yesterday, I had an amazing one-to-one shopping trip with Fiona in Bradbeers, and M&Co Romsey.  It’s not easy to buy clothes where I currently live, and time spent at home is always very busy with little time given to shopping for myself, let alone having time to find the right size, colour and shape to suit me!

Cue Fiona!  Fiona arrived early and already had a rail of clothes picked out just from our brief messages.  The colours she picked were vibrant, fitted perfectly, although Fiona’s keen eye meant rejecting a few more mainly based on colour (although right for me, not the best).  This is key.  In the past if I tried on something which looked nice and covered the bits we all want to hide, I would buy it despite the colour … and then pass it by in my wardrobe when looking for something to wear!

I selected 13 items to purchase from just two shops, including “going out” tops, day tops, a dress, jackets and little cover up cardigans – absolutely incredible!

Fiona was fun to shop with, easy to talk to and would get my own opinion before offering hers, which I found very useful and will focus me for future shopping trips.  It was wonderful to shop for clothes with someone new who doesn’t know your insecurities but just dresses you to look fabulous and to get a different perspective on style and colour.

I am a very happy customer and would highly recommend booking this experience.”
