Susan’s season confirmation and rating review

26th October 2022 by Fiona Mobbs 2 Comments

Initial colour analysis

Susan had been colour-analysed ten years ago as a “Spring”. She was very happy with this and had a wallet of her colour spectrum to help her shop for clothes, glasses frames, accessories like jewellery, bags and shoes, and makeup.

Stop The Clock!

The natural ageing process affects skin elasticity and shine, as well as hair colour. Sadly we can’t “Stop The Clock!”. Nowadays we are more aware of the changes our bodies experience, and there are specialist products for mid-life skin, as well as great hair dyes.

Susan’s story

Susan had decided, about five years ago, to embrace her natural grey as a “fact of life” and with the help of her supportive hairdresser grew the dye colour out over a couple of years.
This was all fine until someone made a comment which made Susan question whether she could still be a “Spring” with her more mature look, so she sought Fiona to answer the question.

What Fiona did

Fiona went to Susan’s home and spent time explaining how her eye colour hadn’t changed (beautiful clear blue eyes) and the natural pigmentation in her skin hadn’t changed. Fiona also explained that she sees different shades of grey in her clients, which she would describe as warm or cool. If Susan had been correctly analysed as a Spring, and Fiona had no reason to doubt that, then Susan’s natural grey would be a warm grey.

Fiona went through the “Spring” colours of her drapes and proved to Susan she was still a Spring and looked lovely in the warm and bright colours, but the way she may now look best was a slight tweak to the shades of her colours. Susan rocked the medium shades now, not the deepest ones of her palette.

Susan said she could see this, and that our time together had been very useful. Not only can she now be more confident with any new purchases, but as the time of year had changed, Susan had just got her autumn and winter clothes out. Fiona showed her what she had that currently worked in her work wardrobe, and together they identified a few key pieces that would give Susan a capsule wardrobe when she is on the lookout for something new. They spent time looking at combinations of colours as well, especially after Fiona explained the “colour wheel” and left Susan with a mini version to remind her of the discussion.

Whilst Fiona was there, she showed Susan how she could make some new outfits and how to use her scarves to make some wardrobe pieces work better.

Conclusion:

  1. We should not need to change our palette (if we have been correctly analysed) as we age, but the way we wear it may change.
  2. Further consultations with your image consultant are never wasted as there’s always more to learn.
  3. Fiona gives confidence and excitement to getting your clothes and wardrobe the best for you, and she will be helping Susan look for new pieces when the time is right, now we are clear about Susan’s best colours.
If you would like to see how Fiona makes you love your clothes and look your best, please get in touch for your personal consultation. It will definitely be worth it. Call or message Fiona on 07469 246722.

Anne’s fantastic wedding outfit

21st July 2022 by Fiona Mobbs Leave a Comment

It’s always lovely when clients are happy with the results – and so kind of them to share a testimonial for me!  Anne was struggling to find something she liked for her niece’s wedding and I was only too pleased to help.  She kindly recorded the short video – link below – to explain how we worked together and how pleased she is with her outfit.

“Hello, my name’s Anne and I’m wearing the outfit that Fiona has helped me choose for my niece’s wedding.

It’s taken a little bit of time to work out my style and colours but this is the outfit and I’m absolutely thrilled.
I heard about Fiona in an interview on Radio Solent back in the spring and I got in touch. We did a colour session, where we identified my colours, which was fantastic. Then I went off on my own to select some things.

After two or three really expensive things that I bought and sent back, I decided to take Fiona up on her offer of a specific styling session to help me find an outfit.  She came with twenty different outfits, all in my size and my colours, all of which I tried on.  All the colours were great and this was one of them.

Fiona took a photograph of me in each outfit, from the front and the back, which is great as you can’t remember how each one looked.

I am absolutely thrilled that I have now got an outfit that I feel really good in. My sisters approve, which matters because it’s a family wedding; my husband approves, which is even better, and I can’t recommend Fiona highly enough. She’s a really good investment – don’t miss out!”

A Wardrobe Overhaul

28th December 2019 by Fiona Mobbs Leave a Comment

A Much Needed Wardrobe Overhaul

Priceless! That’s the only word to describe the help that Fiona has given me with my wardrobe overhaul, which in hindsight was long overdue!

From the enlightening home colour consultation and wardrobe de-clutter, to the experience of finding new clothes (that actually suit me) with a personal shopper, Fiona has been a complete inspiration, and totally professional.

Fiona has helped me to take a fresh look at both the colours I wear and the style of my clothes. I now look at colours in a different way. I know which colours are best for me and what colours to avoid. Now I feel so much better in the clothes that I wear and that boosts my confidence too.

Recommendation

I highly recommend Fiona’s services if you want to make a great impression with the way that you dress. And for that extra feel good factor take Fiona with you as your personal shopper, it will change the way you shop for clothes. Thanks for all your expertise and help Fiona.

A NEW YEAR VIENNA ADVENTURE

26th November 2018 by Fiona Mobbs Leave a Comment

This month’s guest blog has been written by Chrissi Knights of Explorer Travel.

I am not sure what thoughts Christmas and New Year conjure up for you, but I bet amongst other things parties and get togethers feature high on the agenda, closely followed by a panic, “What am I going to wear?” With that in mind I thought I would share with you my experience during the run up to Christmas 2017.

We all have a wish list of places we want to visit and things we want to do, don’t we? As a travel agent, my list grows longer every time I arrange travel for another client and I get that longing explorer feeling. Since 2000 we have spent every New Year somewhere new, gradually working through that ever increasing list. So last year it was time to tick off a New Year in Vienna at the Silvester Hofburg Ball. A proper ball with a requirement for men to be in tails and ladies to wear a ball gown! Panic set in at the thought of shopping; I hate shopping with a passion, but I was fortunate to know Fiona, just a phone call away.

“Help! Should I hire through the internet?”

“No,” was the reply. “How do you know that the colour will be right for you and what about the fit?” Panic! We arrange to meet at Tiffany’s in Southampton but I arrive early. More panic!

“Can I help you?” asked a member of staff, as my eyes take in the host of colours and styles on offer.

“No thanks, I am waiting for my personal shopper,” I replied. Relief! Fiona walks through the door with a big smile and we soon get to work. The American’s use a derisory saying, “Getting more bang for your buck,” but sadly I can’t think of a better phrase to use at the moment. Fiona’s expertise quickly focused on colours and styles that suited me and at no time did I feel rushed or panicky. I must have tried on ten ball gowns, all from my colours and all paraded on the catwalk before choosing a little red number. Of course the process was helped because I had already had a wonderful colour analysis and wardrobe review by Fiona.

If you are someone that hates Christmas crowds or like me panic sets in at the very thought of clothes shopping, or maybe you are stuck for something to wear at your New Year celebrations; give Fiona a call. She will be your fairy godmother just waiting to wave her magic wand and all will be well. Trust me!

Notes:
The dress needed a little altering (the hem needed to be taken up), so Fiona suggested a tailor for this.  It was a busy time of year for Five Past Seven Tailoring and Alterations (in Chandler’s Ford), but they turned it around in time and I was very happy with the result.

Sadly Tiffany’s is no longer in Southampton but you will still find them in Stubbington at 8 Stubbington Green, PO14 2JG.

In addition to the most amazing New Year ’s Eve we booked Viennese Waltz lessons on the morning of 31st December so we didn’t look complete idiots on the night.
